Arippara tourism project launched

Giving fresh impetus to the developmental prospects of Arippara, the tourism department has inaugurated the construction of a facilitation centre near the waterfalls.The initiative aims to attract more visitors to Arippara waterfalls, located on Iruvanhippuzha River at Thiruvambadi in the district. Thiruvambady MLA C Moyin Kutty inaugurated the construction work on Sunday.

Kutty said that the state had assured to sanction more funds for the development of Arippara after completing preliminary works. The state government had already sanctioned Rs 47 lakh for beautifying the premise and garden, ensuring seating arrangement, hand rails, compound wall, road development, toilet and drinking water facility to tourists. Besides, facilitation centre, rain huts and other amenities will also come up at Arippara.

Small Industries Development Corporation (Sidco) has been entrusted the task of introducing infrastructure facilities. The tourism department has already sanctioned Rs 25 lakh of the total project cost to Sidco, the remaining amount would be transferred later.
