Airport pampers non-VIP flyers with special privileges

MUMBAI

Commercially Important Passengers to get hassle-free security clearance, private showers, luxury spas.

Mumbai airport has become the first airport in India to offer non-VIP passengers with priority check-in and special lounge access with hassle-free security and immigration clearance. These travellers, designated Commercially Important Passengers, will not be required to pay an additional fee or issue instructions to airlines to be accorded special status. To begin with, first and business class flyers will qualify for the service said a MIAL spokesperson.

“We have set up 8 counters to check-in CIPs. They will be segregated from the rest of the passengers and will be issued their boarding passes at special created pods,” A MIAL spokesperson said, adding that airlines will identify those passengers who they believe should qualify for the service.
