Air India flight schedule hit as service engineers continue protests

MUMBAI

Air India’s flight operations were hit on Monday after the airline’s service engineers, who lost a colleague last week in a gruesome accident, continued to stay off certain duties to pursue their demand for better working conditions.

The delayed departures left thousands of passengers stranded across airports in the country. Air India denied that its operations have been hit but most of the flights departed an average of an hour behind schedule, reports DNA.

On the tarmac, where six days ago AI service engineer Ravi Subramanium (52) died after being sucked into the live engine of an A319 aircraft, departure clearances were late to come by.
