Air India to launch flight from Delhi to Pantnagar

Passengers looking for faster travelling options between Delhi and Pantnagar in Uttarakhand will now be able to get on a Air India (AI) flight. The air carrier plans to start a direct flight between Delhi and Pantnagar from October 14, 2014.

AI will run an ATR aircraft, four times a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, as per a release. The Flight (9I 815), lasting about one hour, will depart from Delhi at 2.30 pm. The return flight (9I 816) will take off at 3.50 from PAntnagar.

The flight can expect business and leisure fliers. Pantnagar is close to Rudrapur, an industrial hub and the seat for the the High Court of Uttarakhand. It also has the renowned G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology. Pantnagar is also the gateway to the Jim Corbett Wildlife National Park and tourist destinations like Nainitial, Ranikhet and Bheemtal.

This flight will be the latest in the Air India bid to connect small Indian cities. It recently launched flights to six regional stations. Five of these will run from Kolkata to Lilabari, Tezpur, Silchar, Guwahati, and Shillong. The sixth connects Bhuj to Mumbai.
