40% Gujaratis to travel within state for New Year

AHMEDABAD

New Year parties this year began early and will continue for a longer period of time. The New Year vacations got a welcome extension with holidays for Eid-e-Milad and Christmas followed by Saturday and Sunday. Gujaratis took off for vacations earlier than usual time this year, from last week itself.

From Goa to Maldives and Diu to Kutch, domestic destinations within the state and outside are popular with New Year revellers this year.

“Almost 40% of Gujaratis this year are heading for destinations in the state itself. Besides beaches like Diu and pilgrimage spots such as Somnath and Dwarka, Kutch has also emerged a favourite this year,” said Manish Sharma, managing director, Akshar Travels.
As for international destinations, places close to India such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Macau are popular among tourists from Gujarat because these places are easy to reach and take less than 5 hours by air.
