TIRUCHIRAPALLI: ollowing an instruction from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a medical team at the Trichy airport has commenced screening of passengers coming from Singapore to check for symptoms of Zika virus infection.
However, airport director K Gunasekaran said this was done as a routine preventive measure and people should not panic. None of the passengers screened so far have shown any symptoms of the infection, he said, reports The Times of India.
“No case has been registered so far in our country regarding the spread of Zika virus and also of people showing symptoms of infection. Health officials at the Trichy international airport have been asked to proceed their screening process as a preventive measure,” said the director.
A flex board highlighting the symptoms of Zika virus infection has been placed at the arrival side of the terminal to inform about the virus alert. People with high fever, head ache, joint pains and skin rashes are advised to consult doctors immediately.
