VISAKHAPATNAM: The AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has ambitious plans of revamping Yarada Beach located close to the city’s iconic Dolphin’s Nose hills.
Hoping to start works by September, the department is currently looking for administrative sanctions from the state government, reports The Times of India.
APTDC plans to construct four rainshadow shelters for tourists, cafeteria, modern toilets and lawns among others.
D Sandeep, a merchant navy employee and a resident of MVP Colony in the city, said, “Yarada beach is beautiful but lacks basic requirements. Road connectivity is also very poor. It doesn’t have a good restaurant or even a cafeteria.”
Sirisha Patnaik, a software firm employee, said, “The road needs to be developed immediately.”
Speaking to TOI, APTDC executive director for Visakhapatnam region R Sreeramulu Naidu said the cost of developing Yarada would be Rs 1.5 crore. The department selected Yarada beach to develop this financial year as it is one of the busiest beaches in the city attracting a lot of tourists.
