Woman held with drugs at Mumbai airport

MUMBAI
A South African woman was arrested from Mumbai international airport on Friday for allegedly trying to smuggle out 15 kg of Methaqualone worth Rs 7.50 crore to Ethiopia, a senior Customs official said.

Acting on a tip-off, the 23-year-old South African woman, an MBA graduate, was intercepted at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at about 3am after her body language was found to be suspicious, the officer told PTI.

“A sniffer dog also indicated presence of drugs in her luggage,” the officer said but refused to divulge her identify saying that revelation of her name would adversely affect the investigation which was at a crucial stage.
