This is another of those under the radar Indian tourist attractions that you should not miss. Located on the Indravati river near Jagdalpur in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh state, the Chitrakote or the Chitrakoot falls, are truly a majestic sight to behold.
Falling from a height of about 29 metres they are the widest fall in India and are often compared to America’s Niagara falls because of their width and horseshoe shape. If you are partial to seeing rainbows, visit during the rainy season between July and October when sun rays reflecting on the mist from the waterfall creates rainbows.
