Britain has chalked out an ambitious plan to significantly scale up the number of Indian tourists to 425,000 by 2016 and to 500,000 by 2020.
Talking to media persons here on the sidelines of a roundtable on travel and tourism under the “Great (Britain) Campaign” roadshow, Shivali Suri, Country Manager, India, Visit Britain Desk, in the British High Commission in New Delhi, said in 2012, an estimated 339,000 Indians visited Britain and spend 339 million pounds on their visits – the largest by people from any one country in Britain both in terms of numbers and spend (average 1,000 pounds per visitor).
