Twin targets for e-promotion of tourism

Kerala Tourism will go for online promotion of the State in China and the U.S. to increase footfall during Visit Kerala Year. The initiative is part of the marketing strategy to penetrate new tourism markets across the world and increase the tourist arrivals to the State by at least 10 per cent this year.

The decision on online promotion in China comes close on the successful maiden roadshow of Kerala Tourism at Shanghai and participation in the Beijing International Tourism Expo (BITE) 2015 in July. As part of the drive, Kerala will be promoted through Sina Weibo, Tencent QQ, Youku and WeChat which are easily available on mobile devices. Translation of content to Chinese and maintaining of the official portal of Kerala Tourism on China Wide Web is also part of the drive.

The U.S. is the fourth most important market for the State in terms of steady tourist arrivals.

To cash in on this, digital media will be used to reach out to the U.S. citizens. Kerala’s tourism products will now be featured in Travel & Leisure.com and CNN.

The government has given the administrative sanction for the online promotion of Kerala Tourism in China at a cost of Rs.46.50 lakh and in the U.S. for Rs. 60.59 lakh.
