Arrangements are under way at the Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Snows in Tuticorin to host the annual 11-day feast that commences with the flag hoisting on July 26.
More than five lakh worshippers are expected for the festival, Rev. Fr. William Santhanam, Rector and Parish Priest of the Shrine Basilica, said here on Saturday. The festival assumes greater significance since it would mark the 300th year of the consecration of the Basilica.
Addressing media personnel, Fr. Santhanam sought additional train services to Tuticorin from Chennai during the festival for the convenience of the pilgrims. Once the special schedule of the trains was announced, pilgrims from Chennai and surrounding areas could start booking tickets, he added.
The district administration and Tuticorin Corporation authorities have ensured their cooperation to put necessary facilities in place.
