The battle between two male tigers on Monday in Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) has resulted in a battle of words with conservationists and naturalists demanding action be taken against tourist Vishal Chaudhari who insists he saved a tiger from getting killed.
“Yes, I broke the rules but saved the tiger,” says Chaudhari, who captured the rare pictures on Kosekanar Road. His first person account and the pictures published by TOI on Wednesday has evoked sharp reactions from wildlife buffs. There were also a few who have come out in support of Chaudhari (38) who says he has received at least 150 SMSes for “doing a good job”.
However, based on a complaint lodged by state wildlife board member Kishor Rithe and others, TATR field director Virendra Tiwari has ordered a probe. “DyCF (core) Sujoy Dodal has been asked to record statements of guides, tourists and vehicle drivers. Chaudhari too will be summoned,” said Tiwari.
