Tourists’ nightmare at Bambolim beach

Black clouds hang over sandy white beaches tainted by tar ball pollution and only the prospect of rain raises hopes of intense monsoon flushing to clean the state’s priceless tourism assets of the sticky muck.

Ten days after the devastation caused by deposition of tar balls on some of the state’s popular and lesser known beaches, nature, left to fend for itself from the largely man-made pollution, is slowly healing itself. But, the shabby condition of some of the beaches haunts locals and tourists.
