AGRA: The UP tourism guides plan to challenge the Archaeological Survey of India’s new policy concerning them in the Delhi High Court.
The ASI had last year submitted a policy regarding entry of guides at its protected monuments in the Supreme Court and was supposed to come into effect from September this year, reports The Times of India.
However after a few guides’ associations from Agra and other places approached the Delhi HC earlier this year, the judicial body put a stay on the policy till November 29, when the case will once again come up for hearing.
The 602-member strong UP guides’ association which has approached the Allahabad High Court in the similar matter has now also decided to file a petition in the Delhi HC. We have registered an all India association of state level and local guides.
We have given an application in the Allahabad high court seeking to withdraw our application. We have informed the court that we want to file the case afresh in Delhi High Court and sought its permission to allow the same, said Deepak Dan, president of UP guides association.
