The tourism department along with Goa tourism development corporation (GTDC) has decided to put to use its properties spread across the state which otherwise remain open to encroachments.
Put together, the tourism department and GTDC have about 125 properties totaling about 15 lakh sq m of area at various locations in the state, including at some prominent spots in the coastal belts. The process for utilizing properties lying vacant in Anjuna, Vagator and Calangute has already begun, a tourism department official said.
“Parking lots, changing rooms, and toilets are being built at some of the areas,”he added. Tourism projects are being planned on properties at Mayem lake, Tambdi Surla, Mangueshi-Mardol, Selaulim dam, Dona Paula as well Pernem that will be executed through a special purpose vehicle (SPV), which is GTDC.
