The NCR Planning Board (NCRPB) refused Haryana’s proposal for unlimited construction beyond the capped 0.5% of land in these areas after strong opposition but it’s all set to allow “tourism” activities in these regions.
At present, only “recreational” activities are allowed in these eco-sensitive regions which mean there is very little built-up area. “Once you include tourism activities, you are opening up the areas for commercial exploitation. Proposal for tourism activities were pushed by Haryana government and some real estate companies when they had submitted suggestions and objections to the revised regional plan,” said a government source.
