PUDUCHERRY
The Department of Hindu Religious Institutions, Puducherry, has entered into an understanding with the Public Works Department for availing of its services to ensure safety and stability of temples in the Union Territory.
PWD engineers will provide technical inputs and services during renovation and restoration of temples administered and controlled by the Hindu Religious Institutions.
R. Varadarajan alias Mohandoss, Commissioner, Hindu Religious Institutions, told The Hindu that each major temple would have a Technical Monitoring Committee and (PWD) Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer would be part of the committee.
