Taj tickets ask tourists to pitch in to the ‘Clean India’ drive


ASI is now trying to pitch in to promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Clean India’ campaign by asking visitors to the Taj Mahal help keep the monument clean, reports Times of India. Slogans like ‘Swachch Smarak-Swaccha Bharat’, ‘Swachch Hamari Jimmedari, Jan Jan Ki Jimmedari’ have been printed on the tickets. The tickets have English slogans as well.

Around 15,000 to 20,000 tourists visit the Taj every day with the number touching over 40,000 on special occasions. The ASI hopes to encash on this “‘manpower” (tourists) in carrying forward the “Swacch Bharat Abhiyan”.

Superintendent archaeologist, ASI, Agra circle, NK Pathak said, “It is not only our duty, but also of the thousands of tourists who come here to ensure that monuments remain clean. The slogans on the tickets will remind them about their responsibilities. The department has been printing these slogans on all the tender documents as well to reach out to as many people as it
