Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces has announced the opening of Taj Bangalore, the latest addition to the group’s luxury portfolio.
Located just outside the entrance to the Kempegowda International Airport, it is the sixth Taj group hotel in the City, Taj Hotels said in a release.
“Bengaluru is the epicentre of India’s entrepreneurial wave and an emerging centre for international conclaves and conferences. As the city continues to grow and thrive, we are excited to add to the momentum by welcoming the newest Taj hotel to the city,” Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces Senior Vice President – Operations – South Prabhat Verma said.
The hotel has 154 rooms, 12 luxury suites and a presidential suite, the release said, adding, it also has over 25,000 square feet of banqueting space, comprising an array of private multi-functional indoor spaces from elegant ballrooms to intimate boardrooms to suit all requirements.
According to the release, the events spaces lead onto landscaped gardens; the seamless merging of the indoor and outdoor is reminiscent of Bangalore’s own cityscape. Central to the hotel’s philosophy is connectivity; a networking table in the central lobby creates a community space for business guests to co-work and connect with like-minded people.
The release says that “the Taj Bangalore offers a window into the progressive spirit of the Garden City. The melding of indoor and outdoor space and use of natural light is a tribute to the city’s temperate climate. In dedicated collaborative work-life zones, guests will be able to work, network, dine and socialize against the backdrop of extensive green lawns and open spaces. The high ceilinged event spaces lend themselves to making it the ideal setting for large meetings, conference and weddings events alike.”
“Taj Bangalore is designed to give entrepreneurs, business professionals and those in search of rest and relaxation the very best of the Taj’s legendary service. Our services are centered on the guest experience: spacious rooms, expansive conference and events spaces, dedicated start-up friendly zones and round-the-clock gastronomic treats encourage the mind-space to think and create. On-the-go food and the anti-jet-lag menu at the elegant Jiva spa are designed with our multitasking guests in mind,” said Ian Dubier, General Manager, Taj Bangalore.
However there is very little information available on this hotel, and still no visuals of the hotel exterior. Even the official website for the hotel has just a limited number of images. An identical image is used for all the five accommodation choices.
The release mentions the dining options in the hotel as Cafe 77 East, Indian restaurant-Tamarind, Asian restaurant- Soi & Sake among others.
At Taj Bangalore there’s a menu for every palate and a food-on- the- go concept to suit those on a schedule. The 24-hour all-day dining, Café 77 East, has light-filled indoor and alfresco spaces ideal for the Bangalore weather. Live cooking stations offering small and large plate options, will engage guests in the eating experience for everything from global comfort food to a taste of the Southern regional favorites.
Authentic Indian food is on offer at the Indian restaurant, Tamarind, where guests can choose from dishes straight from the Royal kitchens including Rajasthani laal maas, Punjabi rara gosht or Awadhi lagan ka murgh. The Asian restaurant, Soi & Sake, offers Chinese and Japanese fare. Sit around the live Tepan grill or Sushi bar to see a culinary masterpiece created in front of your eyes. For private or group tastings, the tasting room is the perfect venue for sampling local and international wines. Start-Up is an informal networking destination ideal for entrepreneurs and professionals to brainstorm over a single malt or a cocktail.
Here’s what the website has:
Just a case of website not updated – in itself a surprise in this not just web first but mobile first age, or is it case of the hotel not being ready yet? There is no listing on review sites such as Tripadvisor or HolidayIQ – while it is customary to see reviews as hotels usually have a ‘soft launch’ – basically to iron out any kinks before making the opening announcement.
Most of the other naviagations links – Hotels, Jiva Spa, Rewards – are generic to the group. There is little to gleaned from the website if there is a spa at all, though the release does mention spa facilities!
The Taj Group has other hotels in the luxury segment in the city – The Taj West End, Kuteeram, Gateway Hotel Residency Road, Vivanta by Taj – M G Road, Vivanta by Taj – Whitefield and Vivanta by Taj – Yeshwantpur.
