DELHI: Hotel chains and online travel agents are not expecting Indians to stay put at home this festive season.
Encouraged by the business done in August, which had a series of long weekends, online travel agents, hotel aggregators and several hotel chains are expecting a significant rise in revenue in the festive season, even as the trend of quick getaways and weekend trips is catching up in India, reports The Economic Times.
Festive season bookings for budget hotel brand OYO are nearly 45% higher than those made for the same period last year. “Top-booked cities include Goa, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Varanasi.
The mix of leisure and metro cities indicates that two kinds of customers are booking hotels on OYO — those who wish to travel outside the city on festive occasions and those who are planning a staycation in their city of residence,” chief operating officer Abhinav Sinha said.
The highest bookings on OYO have been done for Goa around Dussehra, which this year is celebrated on September 30.
