Surat flights draw in the numbers

SURAT: The inaugural flights of SpiceJet connecting Surat to Jaipur, Hyderabad and Goa received an overwhelming response.

On the first day, 66 passengers from Jaipur travelled to Surat, 71 boarded the flight from Surat to Hyderabad and 75 passengers boarded the Goa flight in its bombardier Q400 aircrafts on Thursday, reports The Times of India.

Sources said that the SpiceJet has announced the launch of flight services from Surat to Kolkata and Patna starting from July 1. The booking for the same has already started. The airline is also planning to introduce Surat-Bangalore and Surat-Varanasi flight in a short time.

With this, SpiceJet is operating five daily flights to Delhi, Jaipur, Goa and Hyderabad. On other hand, Air India is operating two Airbus in the morning and evening from Surat to Delhi and three days a week flight between Surat and Mumbai.

Apart from this, Surat is also connected with intra-state connectivity by the city-based Ventura Airconnect.

Ventura is operating Surat-Rajkot, Surat-Amreli, Surat-Bhavnagar and Surat-Ahmedabad on daily basis.

Member of We Work for a Working Airport at Surat (WWWAS), Linesh Shah said, “The year 2017 is the turning point in the aviation history of Surat. This is just the beginning and we are hoping that Surat will be on the world’s aviation map in the next couple of years.”
