In search of cool climes, tourists reaching hill stations of Himachal Pradesh are a disappointed lot. Here too, the sizzling summer is at its peak with maximum temperature in Shimla 6.5 degrees celsius above normal, and Dharamshala recording a maximum of 3.6 degrees above normal. Heat wave continues to persist in Una, Sirmaur, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and parts of Mandi district and the situation would likely remain this way for the next 48 hours. Highest temperature was recorded in Una at 44.4 degrees celsius while keylong recorded a low of 8.4 degrees. Chamba recorded a maximum of 37.9 degrees and Dharamshala was 35.4 degrees celsius. Dalhousie was at 25.7 degrees, Solan 37 degrees, Palampur 35 degrees and Mandi recorded a high of 40.4 degrees.
Shimla meteorological centre officials said that dry weather would continue till June 13 and maximum temperature could further rise. Tourism officials said that most hotels are packed to capacity and it is expected that a slight fall in temperature would double visitor inflow to the state.
