SpiceJet has selected Boeing 737 Max for its fleet expansion. Boeing’s latest fuel efficient narrow body aircraft which promises 13% fuel savings over current generation of planes which will enter into service from 2017.
However, a formal purchase agreement with Boeing is yet to be signed. SpiceJet’s order size could be in range of 40-50 planes, a source familiar with the development said. At list price a Boeing 737 Max aircraft is valued at around $ 100 million (about Rs 620 crore).
SpiceJet did not respond to an email query. A Boeing spokesperson said “We do not comment on specific issues regarding our customers.”
