SpiceJet bans Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on its flights

CHENNAI: SpiceJet has banned Samsung Galaxy Note 7 mobile phones onboard its flights starting today.

The announcement follows a recent Directorate General of Civil Aviation advisory to all airlines in the wake of reports of the device catching fire.

In a statement, the airline said, “Passengers are not permitted to carry the Galaxy Note 7 onboard, in hand baggage, check-in baggage or even as cargo on any of the SpiceJet flights.”

AirAsia recently banned the phone from all its domestic and international flights after the US Department of Transport’s ban on the device.
