Spice Route to again connect 31 countries

Kerala tourism is set to bring together the 31 nations that were once connected by the spice route, for an international conference later this year.

The move is with support from The United Nations World Tourism  Organisation (UNWTO) for its initiative to revive the two-millennia-old spice route concept that once connected South Western India to various parts of the world.

The ancient trade route is said to have connected South Western India by sea with around 31 countries. Apart from the UNWTO, the UNESCO has also given its backing for the project, which aims at facilitating tourists to travel the route that was once taken by traders 2,000 years ago. It will help explore the history and culture of the different sites, spanning continents that were in the loop.
