Songadh to be new tourist destination in Gujarat

SURAT
If all goes well, south Gujarat is all set to get yet another tourist place. The Tapi district administration is working on a blueprint to develop areas near Ukai dam, located some 94km away from the Diamond City, in Songadh taluka as a tourist spot. At present, Saputara, Mahal eco-camp site, Don Hill, Wilson Hill, Tithal beach, Ubhrat beach and Padamdungari are popular tourist spots in south Gujarat.

Songadh is known for its dense forest and bamboo production. Though the area around Ukai dam is prohibited for visitors, there are plans to develop Doswada, Fort Songadh, Navi Ukai and the area surrounding the Ukai dam as eco-camp sites similar to Padamdungari near Vyara and Mahal in Dang.
