The prospect of getting train tickets booked through an SMS or menu based dialing service from July 1 appeals to Ludhiana residents, especially frequent fliers. The two non-internet systems developed by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) can be used with simple feature phones too. This will greatly simplify the ticket booking process.
Civil Lines resident Rahul Kanojia, a student and a frequent traveller, “The IRCTC has taken a great step. One need not log on to the internet or stand in a queue now. We are fed up of standing in queues for hours to book tickets. The authorities concerned should start the service on July 1 and shouldn’t delay the move, which will be of immense benefit to travellers.”
