Similipal’s Jamuani to have new tents

BHUBANESWAR

New tents will greet visitors at the eco-tourism site of Jamuani inside the Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR), when it opens for visitors in November.

Two years ago, the authorities put up tents, equipped with modern facilities, but they have become unsuitable for tourists who wish to spend the night there, reports The Times of India.

“We have released funds to the divisional forest officer (Rairangpur division) to replace the old tents. However, the raised platforms, where the tents are put up, won’t be renovated. From November, tourists can book tent accommodations,” said STR deputy director Ajit Satapathy. Each tent has two beds and a western-style bathroom, he added.

Food is also served to the tourists at Jamuani. “This year, we will try to train some more villagers on food preparation and hospitality, so that all tourists get quality food,” Satapathy said, adding that they are trying to get power supply to Jamuani.
