Similipal back as tourist hotspot


Picturesque Similipal, which came under Maoist attack in 2009, has regained its tourism appeal.

About 27,000 tourists, almost double the number last year, visited the reserve in Mayurbhanj district in 2012-13. It fetched the wildlife department over Rs 20 lakh, official sources said. Officials attributed the better footfall to improved facilities to sight wildlife and introduction of e-reservation system for visiting the reserve.
