There is yet another good reason to plan a trip to Goa. Between March 25 to April 7 this year, the state will hold the popular Shigmo festival across Goa. “Shigmo is one of the major festivals of the Hindu community celebrated by Konkani diaspora and the Indian festival of Holi is part of it. In recent years, the state government has supported the festival of Shigmo and all the parades,” Goa Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar told PTI.
Parulekar said that the festival depicts Goan life in as locals perform in elaborate folk performances tirelessly dancing in huge processions along with the floats. He added that the event now draws tourists from all neighbouring states as well as international visitors.
