Diwali has come with a straight eight-day break this year, Gujaratis are exploring new destinations like Seychelles, Korea and Bhutan.
While the slowdown has hit sales of gold jewellery and corporate gifting segment this festive season but tourism sector seems to be upbeat with a surge in travel bookings compared to last year, reports The Times of India.
“There is a significant growth of over 26% from the Gujarat in term of bookings, not just from Ahmedabad but equally so from mini metros of Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot. Recent trends indicate growing interest from Gujarat for Turkey, Korea, Bhutan and Seychelles,” said Jatinder Paul Singh, senior VP, Thomas Cook (India) Ltd.
“Destinations such as Bangkok, Singapore and Dubai continue to be the hot favourite among holiday makers. However, this year we have also got bookings for holiday destinations in the interiors of China and Thailand. These destinations are not only new, but travelling here is cheaper too,” said Sanjeev Chajjer, vice president, Cox & Kings.
