CHENNAI
Narcondam, which is an extremely remote island in the Andaman Sea and home to the endangered endemic species Narcondam hornbill, will soon pulsate with activity as scuba divers are set to explore its resplendent beauty. This remote island in India is also a hotspot for bird-watchers. The waters surrounding Narcondam island are known for diving. An extinct volcano, Narcondam was put on the diving map by diving pioneer Jacque Cousteau who was the first to dive in these waters and describe it as “a wondrous realm of stunning marine life and coral reefs”.

Diving here will give one a magnificent view of coral formations, spectacular rocky drop-offs and presence of pelagics and majestic creatures such as manta rays; besides gas bubbles rising from fissures on the ocean floor.
