Development work worth Rs.50 lakh will be taken up on the Mararikkulam beach, District Collector N. Padmakumar has said.
He was inaugurating a cleanliness drive on the beach on Friday, reports The Hindu.
The programme was organised by the District Tourism Promotion Council and Kerala Homestay and Tourism Society.
Protection walls would be constructed at the estuary at Mararikkulam and pedal boating will be introduced.
An amenities centre for tourists will be built on the beach. It will have toilets and rooms for changing of clothes for the tourists. Construction of the Mararikkulam-Pallinada road will be taken up, according to officials.
