Saputara swarmed with tourists

Ravi Gupta, a resident of Andheri in Mumbai, and his family was forced to spend the night in a garden in Saputara. “We could not find accommodation anywhere. We had no option, but to spend the night under the skies near Toran hotel,” he told TOI.

Saputara, Gujarat’s only hill station has been swarmed by tourists this Diwali. According to the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) estimates, in the last four days more than 40000 people visited the hill station – the biggest tourist footfall ever in Saputara.

Tourism officials said that all the hotels, guest houses, private bungalows, TCGL-owned properties like Toran hotel, Dormitories and government circuit house are booked till November 15. The total number of tourist footfall at the hill station may cross over 1 lakh in the coming days.
