Sahara plans to invest Rs 2,400 cr in Bengal

The Sahara India Pariwar plans to invest at least Rs 2,400 crore in West Bengal, its Chairman and Managing Worker, Subroto Roy said. According to him, plans were afoot to set up a 500-bed hospital and medical college at an expected investment of Rs 400 crore in the Sonarpur region, some 30-odd km south of the city in the adjoining South 24 Parganas district.

“We need around 500 acres of land and are buying it directly,” Roy said during a press conference here on Friday.

According to the Chairman, the Group is keen to develop a township in Dankuni, around 30-odd km west of Kolkata, at an expected cost of Rs 2,000 crore.

The township will be a “state-of-the-art” one with modern living amenities and come up on a 1,000-acre plot. “We are looking at the required land parcels,” he said.
