GURGAON
The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) is planning to revive a pond in Sukhrali village by developing it into a lake and building a park around it. If the proposal gets a nod, the pond near Iffco Chowk will become a tourist spot.
“After consultation with private firm Intech, we have submitted an estimate of R50 lakh to the commissioner to develop the water body as a lake. It will not only recharge storm water, but also act as a tourist spot,” MCG councillor Anoop Singh said.
As per the proposal, walls will be built around the pond to prevent it from being encroached upon. “We have to build a concrete wall around the area, including the pond, to avoid encroachment. There will be inlets for water to seep in so that the walls do not obstruct the natural flow,” said MCG executive engineer Rajesh Bansal.
