This route will become the shortest route for movement between Amritsar and Chandigarh on completion
DELHI: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a Letter of Award (LOA) to GR Infraprojects for four laning and development of 81 km long stretch from Phagwara to Rupnagar section passes through Banga Town and in Punjab state at Rupnagar under Phase IV of National Highways Development Projects (NHDP). The project cost will be Rs 1444 crore.
On completion, this route will become the shortest route for movement between Amritsar and Chandigarh, two most important cities of Punjab and also tourist hub for Sikh pilgrimage. The project will help in expediting the improvement of infrastructure in Punjab and in reducing the time and cost of travel.
The project will have four structures (Ggrade separator/flyover), one major bridge, 22 minor bridges, one vehicular underpass and one pedestrian underpass. The project would be executed on hybrid annuity mode and scheduled time of completion of project is 30 months from the date of commencement.
