Ola relaunches taxi service in Delhi & Jaipur

The service is currently available in Delhi-NCR

DELHI: ┬áIndia’s largest taxi hailing service Ola has re-launched its outstation taxi service by introducing a new outstation category on its mobile app.

The service is currently available in Delhi-NCR and Jaipur and allows customers to book taxis and start their trip in two hours, reports ET Tech.

At the time of writing this article, the app offers customers the option to either choose a Mini or a Prime cab for their ride.

A Mini cab will cost a base fare of Rs 2,000 for 250 kilometres & 24 hours and Rs 8/km for every additional kilometre while a Prime cab will cost consumers a base fare of Rs 2,500 for 250 kilometres & 24 hours and Rs 10/km for every additional kilometre.

Ola noted that the service will also charge an additional Rs 250 per night as night time charges, and all ride payments have to be done in cash. We have written to Ola for more details on this and will update once we hear back.

It’s worth noting that Ola previously offered outstation trips during the initial years of its operations, however it later discontinued the service to focus on point-to-point trips within the city and gain leadership in the market, especially with the entry of Uber in August 2013.

This launch comes at a time when the Supreme Court has banned diesel taxis from plying in Delhi roads to curb pollution.
