NOIDA
In a major setback to more than 50 realty projects in Noida, the National Green tribunal (NGT) on Thursday issued notices to the ministry of environment and forests, Noida Authority chairman & CEO and Uttar Pradesh chief secretary for failing to protect the 10 km radius around Okhla Bird Sanctuary under environment norms. The notices were issued following a petition demanding to make free the 10 km area around Okhla sanctuary construction-free.
“Considering our plea and the gravity of the issue, the NGT has admitted the petition and issued a notice to all parties, including UP chief secretary Javed Usmani and Noida chairman Rama Raman. The next hearing in the matter is July 19 and all parties will have to put forth their stand before the tribunal by then,” said Gaurav Kumar Bansal, counsel for the petitioner.
