The domestic tourism sector has something to cheer about as a leading international newspaper has identified Nepal as one of the places to visit in 2014.
The US-based New York Times has placed Nepal in the 45th position in the list of ‘52 Places to Go in 2014’. Other must visit destinations include Cape Town of South Africa, Christchurch of New Zealand, Namibia, Ecuador, Quang Binh of Vietnam, Rotterdam of the Netherlands, Yogyakarta of Indonesia, Chennai of India, and Krabi of Thailand.
The newspaper — which has called Nepal the mother lode of alpinism, home to eight of world’s 10 highest summits, including Mt Everest — enrolled the country in its latest ‘Places to Go’ list based on a government committee’s recommendation to open new peaks.
