Nepal’s FTA concern for Indian tourism


The downward trend in Foreign Tourist Arrival (FTA) to Nepal brings worry for the Indian tourism business operatives too. The declining curve is being considered as a major factor to leave its impact in the tourism business in Nepal adjoining Eastern Himalayan destinations in India like Sikkim, Darjeeling as well as Bhutan during the coming post monsoon season. 

According to nepal Tourism arena statistics, with a overall 5.3 % decline during the period Jan-April 2013 compared to same period last year, the aggregate foreign visitors number to Nepal through air route has come down to 1,97,014. European market, one of the most premium class and largest contributors to Nepal’s FTA has shown a decline of 14.3% .
