Thanks to crossing a recent milestone, it seems that happy days are here to stay for Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). The corporation has been recognised as the number one tourism board among India’s best performing Public Sector Enterpises (PSEs).
What accolades has it won?
It won the award for ‘Tourism PSE of the Year’ and is the first and only tourism board to get this appreciation. MTDC is promoting its brand ‘Maharashtra Unlimited’, and its campaign ‘Maha Hai Maharashtra’ has been awarded the Best Tourism Brand Media Campaign. The award was received by Sunil Kungeri, manager, MTDC marketing, at the event held at the quarterly review of India’s PSEs, in New Delhi recently.
What does Maharashtra have to offer tourists?
It is interesting to note that Maharashtra ranks number one in attracting foreign tourists. In 2013, the state received 41,56,343 foreign tourists and 8,27,00,556 domestic tourists.
Commenting on the occasion, Valsa R Nair-Singh, managing director, MTDC said: “This award is recognition for our continuous efforts to promote Maharashtra tourism, including rural tourism and agricultural tourism. We are screening a weekly programme on Doordarshan (DD) which highlights the state tourism.”
