AURANGABAD: The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has launched a fortnight long campaign on Friday to reach out to the residents staying in and around the monuments, urging them to help the administration in maintaining cleanliness, reports The Times of India.
The senior regional manager of MTDC, Annasaheb Shinde said, “If the city and environment around monuments are clean and well maintained with the active participation of the localities, it would help boost tourism in the city. It is the responsibility of all of us to ensure that cleanliness sends a good message to people across different places.”
Shinde said, “The campaign was launched with an active participation of various departments including the archeological department, civic body and social organization department. Tourist spots like Delhi Gate, Soneri Mahal on University campus, Ellora Caves, Railway Station area, Bibi-ka-Maqpra area have been zeroed in for the cleanliness awareness campaign. Apart from hawkers, vendors, social clubs and NGOs, we are also reaching out to the residents and requesting them to help the administration in its endeavor.”
He added, “The cleanliness drive was launched from the Soneri Mahal campus. On September 18, Himayat Bagh and Delhi Gate area will be the focus of attention. Similarly, MTDC will ensure that people living in the area participates and keep a vigil to ensure cleanliness in their vicinity.”
