Monsoon tourism to get cold response

Bad roads are driving monsoon tourists away from God’s Own Country.

Arun Sadanandan from Nooranad, who is residing in Kuwait and  normally prefers the monsoon season to tour Kerala, said he cancelled this year’s plans owing to the bad condition of roads. “We actually planned a trip to Nelliyampathy on July 21. But a week before that, I happened to travel to Kochi. The condition of the roads, especially from Ambalappuzha to Cherthala, was so pathetic that we thought travelling through such roads will spoil our mood. So we cancelled the trip,” Arun said.

However, the Tourism Department officials believe that there will not be any decrease in the number of tourists this year. “So far, the Tourism Department has not registered any dip in the number of tourists.
