Moily assures help for Moodabidri Basadi


MANGALORE
The Rs 36 crore preliminary master plan report for conservation and sustainable tourism development of heritage basadis and their environs in Moodbidri received a boost with Union petroleum minister M Veerappa Moily assuring necessary help.

Moily has sent a letter to tourism minister RV Deshpande in which he said that he will take up the matter with the Centre after he receives the project proposal from the state.

Moily said, “I want the tourism minister to send a proposal so that I can take up the project through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds from either ONGC, Indian Oil Corporation or Oil India Foundation. We have undertaken such works at Taj Mahal, Khajuraho and Konark. We have also sanctioned light and sound project at Devanahalli, the birth place of Tipu Sultan. If he sends (the proposal) I can consider it favourably, after all it is my place.”
