MoCA revising note on bilaterals

DELHI
The Civil Aviation Ministry is giving final touches to a note for the Union Cabinet on a major hike in bilateral air traffic rights between India and Abu Dhabi, following concerns raised by some political leaders that it was linked to the Jet-Etihad deal.

The note is being revised after the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) sent it back to the Civil Aviation Ministry on June 13 for making modifications to address the concerns expressed by these politicians.

They had questioned the rationale behind the decision to enhance the number of seats that airlines from India and Abu Dhabi would be allowed to operate to each other — from the current level of 13,700 seats per week to 50,000.
