Mgnt plan for Chorao bird sanctuary

The birds themselves prefer to home in patches outside their haven while the visitors’ access to core areas is disjointed, but hope is at hand with forest department toying with a management plan for Chorao bird sanctuary.

A visit to Goa’s only bird sanctuary, with its quiet ambience, lush mangroves and crisscrossing waterways offers a memorable experience for visitors, but many believe that a great potential to develop it for tourism has not been fully realized.

More than 100 species of birds have been recorded here, but overgrowth of mangroves itself may be one of the problems needing remedial action.
