Bhushan Gaikwad, owner of Dhantoli-based Mangalmurti Tours and Travel, has been booked for cheating after one of a group of 39 tourists approached city cops on Monday reported Times of India. The 39 tourists were duped of almost Rs 14 lakh. They they had booked a tour to Chennai and Andaman in February. The tour was abandoned midway due to Gaikwad’s mistakes.
Sahadev Bhasme, who had purchased the tour package for Rs 60,000, was among the tourists who had to return from Chennai after aborting a plan to take a flight to Andaman. TOI had published the incident last month.
The tourists had been shocked to realize that no tickets had been booked for them to travel to Andaman from Chennai. Gaikwad, who had escorted the tourists to Chennai from Nagpur, sneaked away from the hotel fearing discovery.
