Malaysian tourist robbed in Agra

AGRA: A Malaysian tourist was robbed of her belongings while she was visiting the tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah.

The incident took place on Friday, March 17 afternoon in the car parking of tomb operated by a private firm on contractual basis.

A resident of Kuala Lumpur, Siti Nur Baya, a lawyer by profession, had arrived in Agra with two women friends (also lawyers), a tour guide and a taxi driver on Thursday evening from Jaipur. The Malaysian national had arrived in India nearly a week ago.

Her luggage was taken away by an unknown person after breaking the glass window of the car.

Speaking to TOI, victim’s guide Furqan Ahmad said, “After returning from Itimad-ud-Daulah tomb, we found that the car’s window was broken and Baya’s backpack was missing.”

He said, “The car was parked in parking lot and our driver had gone to the loo. During this period, someone broke the window and took away valuables belonging to the Malaysian tourist.”
